However, as someone mentioned in the comments: “Seems like a needlessly confusing workaround. It would be so much better if the curves just worked within the MIDI note editor automation lanes.” - and I agree. I would rather edit the curve inside the midi clip, so moving / cutting the MIDI clips WITH the automation is easy.
As you can see by the comments, this is a desired feature by many other users.
