Cubase Elements Crashes with Opengl32.dll Error

hi everyone,

ive got a problem regarding my old Cubase 5 Pro which still accures with Cubase 8 Elements.
I updated because I got several crashes once in a while and lost many hours of work because of it. The crash accures when i open any active insert effect or trying to apply a new one. I noticed that it mostly crashes when I try to open fabfilter or waves plugins. I found out that both of them are using opengl, but I must confess that I have no idea what exacly opengl is for.

Here are my system specs:
INtel i53570K @3,4GHz
Nvidia GeForce 670
8GB DDR3 RAM@1600MHz
Windows 7 64Bit
Cubase Elements 8 64Bit 8.0.10

And the crash window:

Hi,

Over four years later! Great english by the way.

Did you ever resolve this? I am on Windows 10 Home 1909 / Cubase 10.5.20. I have an issue where Cubase works fine, but quits rather than closes properly sometimes. Opengl32 shows up in the crash dump. i recently installed Waves NX Mixroom and I suspect that this is the cause.
