That’s the funny thing, on the crashes I have been having I haven’t been getting one crash report pop up.

I have reset my entire Mac now. It’s still doing it for another 20 hours.
I have to do urgent work and haven’t got time unfortunately to search for possible solutions that might take days or weeks.

I’ll go back to Cubase 10 and will sit 10.5 out altogether now.
The problem is that it's not Cubase that is crashing but the VST scanner (as described in the post). That is why there are no Cubase crash logs. The plug-ins get blocked by Apple due to the Hardened Runtime and the VST scanner doesn't get any response and crashes. Unfortunately we cannot reproduce it on any of our systems.

But you can still help us if you send us the VST2 file of one of the plug-ins that are (or were crashing before in Cubase 10.5.11) crashing (or that are getting blacklisted) to info (at) Steinberg (dot) de with Blacklist in the subject line.

We really need you help!

I remember for sure that my Korg Legacy was one of them as I event checked that I had the latest installer.

Once my system restore is done I won’t risk another update and stick to Cubase 10.5.5 and 10.

Yes, once the restore is complete I’ll send it over.

By the way, it would have been nice if “hardened runtime” had been mentioned in the release notes of the updates. I would have stayed away from it and it would have saved me a lot of trouble.

We didn’t see it coming. As I said there wasn’t any issue on any of our systems and we still cannot reproduce it.

I bought 10.5 on December 11th and didn't dare to install it yet on my 10.14.6 6-core Mac Mini. Still running 10.0.40 happily. Wish I didn't pay the canadian 90$ charged for nothing. From what I've been reading here I don't see when this will be completely fixed. I hope that Steinberg will take this (us Mac users) in account when it's time to upgrade to 11.0.

Guys.. it is very important to know .. some illegal vst and installs are blacklisted, and not work on the new c10.5 update because of apple "hardened runtime" .. its not steinberg fault .. if you all have legal plugins, with latest updates ... no worries

There is no problem to run both, so you can try it out and see for your self. Cubase usualy have some quirks until x.y.30 or so. This time it hit OSX users, and partly Apple is to blame. And it will get a lot worse coming OSX releases.

I have only 32 bit vsts blacklisted but not a single other. I assume some bad vsts are creating problems. There is no beachball issue currently except if i play Cubase demo project by Paul marx. I suspect it is Padshop which is creating all sort of issues in that particular project. Rest all good with Cubase 10.5.11 here on Catalina.

I could not work with 10.5, which I had recently updated from Cubase 6. Cubase. Cubase 10.0.50 build 301 is working pretty well, though I expected better efficiency on my 2019 iMac i9. Sure would like to export video as well.

I have no blacklisted plugins nor any cracked programs/plugins. Spiking out and the listen button acts as a solo????
I am going to do a time machine back to 10.5.10 or possibly reinstall 10 as this is all completely ridiculous including the wavelab saga...... Mojove Mac

Ok have time machined back to 10.5.10 which is less spikes than 10.5.11 here on mojove.
Much less painful than I thought the whole time machine process for an individual app...
Listen working fine as seemed to be a control room change that had happened somehow :)

Looks like this update made things better. However, whenever I try to pick a color, i get 2-4 seconds of freezing every time, be it in the inspector, or the preferences.

Still experiencing issues with some VST3 plugins causing 10.5.11 to overload. Videos below showing 10.5.11 overloading in a 1 track session and 10.0.40 handling the plugins just fine at 512 samples and 32 samples.

10.5.11

10.0.40
https://youtu.be/rh_Pn5_-yX0
Still experiencing the issue above on 10.5.12. Again, Cubase 10.0.40 works fine. Swing and a miss.

Sorry, but that's a load of BS and assuming all of us who have problems are running cracks is quite prejudiced.

As reported above 2 of the plugins that I had problems with are the Korg Legacy Shell and the Eventide H9100 Harmonizer (single version).
They are NOT cracks.

Also some people might run plugins which haven't been updated for a while which could be amongst that list.

While 10.5 with a 16 midi tracks project, all played with Halion SE, used 5% of audio performance (average), now 10.5.12 uses 90% !!!

OK, I abandon 10.5 and go back to 10. But, since Mojave replaced HSierra in my daw, there are many problems particularly with articulations (expression maps).

What can I do ? Reinstall High Sierra ? Say good bye Apple, hello PC ? Since their introduction (Cubase 5?) I use expression maps, that is my main tool and that is specific to Cubase ...I don't know what to do...
