This is awesome and would be extremely helpful, maybe there is a preference I am missing but it is not working for me in on OS 10.10.2 in Cubase 7.0.7, 7.5.40 or in Cubase 8.0.10.

Automation of course follows event with "Automation Follows Events" preference enabled/button pressed regardless of group. I can also group automation events but they are not linked to the audio event (clip). Thanks for the picture you attached.
yeah it's not working for me either.

Strange. Are you guys selecting the audio event as well as the automation handles before you group?

ah i just got it working. the issue is, when i move the event (and its automation follows along, since my 'automation follows events'), then it still keeps selecting the range of automation where the event originally was. so the event has moved, its corresponding automation has moved too, but when i click the event, it gets selected, plus the empty automation region of where the event originally was gets selected. it's a nice find though, looks like either some accidental feature that's a result of some synergy of functions, or something to be refined in the future.

Ah yes, interesting. If you start moving the events around, things start getting messy in a hurry. Typically I'd only do this at the point where nothing else is going to change in position, so I hadn't noticed this weirdness.

I could have sworn I did that multiple times but it just worked now. Like lukasbrooklyn said when you move it things don't work any more. Kind of interesting that if you turn off automation follows edit and even overlap another region this in it's own way can kind of work better then automation follows edit because you can over lap the region and the automation edits specific to the audio event stay locked and when you move them away they are still there. Of course you have to again make a new selection and group if you add more automation within that audio event.

I'll have to figure a way to make that a little more streamlined because lukas' macro tip for the PLE never ended up working on the Mac side and needed QuicKeys to execute properly for region bounds.

After all these years.............

I just discovered that when using "Use Scroll Wheel for Event Volumes and Fades" that actually includes Fades! Been using it forever for Volume only. Who knew?

With mouse hovering over a Selected Clip, holding down Shift while using the scrollwheel adjusts Fades. If the mouse/cursor is on the left half of the Clip, you adjust Fade-In; mouse/cursor on the right half of the Clip adjusts Fade-Out.

Way faster than finding the Fade Tab, at least for me. There are so many cool Key Commands in Nuendo. I would be willing to bet no single human knows/uses them all. No way.

If you press and hold ALT and click on the panner in the inspector or mixer it opens up a big window.

This only works on stereo audio and stereo group and FX tracks and not mono :-(

Can we have this applicable on midi & instrument tracks instead of the verticle fader slider plz ?

That's cool, didn't realize that for me it works on mono tracks too. I am guessing you are referring to mono output though where panning wouldn't be relevant anyway. Thanks for sharing. I am not completely sure what the lock does since the windows stay open regardless.

Any quick way to open up a VSTi without hitting F-11 and scrolling to the right one and then hitting the "e" there?

Thanks -
Alexis

-Cubase "Safe Start Mode" (CTRL-ALT-SHIFT)
-Get variable-tempo audio to follow a grid here,
-Replacing freely-timed section into a variable tempo project

Yes, directly in the MIDI/Instrument track, click to the grey "keyboard" icon (looks more like fence to me). When the GUI of the Instrument is open, the icon is yellow.

Thank you Martin!

I should have specified though, I was looking to do this from the Mixer view, preferably with KCs!

Possible?

Great, thanks! I'm sure it will be more clear when I'm at the DAW, right now I'm trying to think about how that would work in the Mixer window. Wondering if I need to first select the VSTi channel to apply that command?

you can select either the vsti or the midi channel that is routed to the vsti (while in the mixer or indeed in the arrange). firing off the KC then brings up the respective VSTi.

Macro for selecting a range, splitting the audio and turning down the split audio a few dB. Nice if you're non-destructively de-essing or just attenuating little spikes in your audio:

Edit - split range
Preferences - Editing - Auto Select Events under Cursor
Tool - Select Tool
Transport - To Left Locator
Audio - Decrement Event Volume
Audio - Decrement Event Volume
Audio - Decrement Event Volume
Audio - Crossfade
Preferences - Editing - Auto Select Events under Cursor

The steinberg pad controller came with my version of Cubase (the pad controller is now discontinued) and since its too small to use for finger drumming I use it solely for shortcuts and with 16 slots available I can zip around between mix console and piano roll as well as other time saving shortcuts with ease all with my left hand while never having to leave my mouse to use keyboard shortcuts. Huge time saver.
