I recently recorded and mixed another ambient guitar piece. I’d wanted to do one using ambient environmental sounds, and found some nice ones in izotope Iris 2 to use on this piece. Superior Drummer 3 was used for the percussion track.
Other instruments include ambient and textural guitar, and a fretless bass, which improvises a melody in the last half of the piece.
The piece is inspired by some favorite sounds - the swelling and ebbing chords of Steve Roach, the textural guitar sounds of Henry Frayne who played with The Moon Seven Times and Lanterna, and the fretless bass tones of Michael Manring.
