Just learned of his death in this obituary in The Guardian, probably "my favourite pianist" of all time.

Just found out ... what a fantastic life of music, thank you Mr. Tyner!
My favourite? The album "Soliloquy" on Blue Note.

He plays a great concert in the mid-80's during the "Harvest Jazz" series, at Paul Masson's wine festival. In fact it was the first thing I ever saw him on, and I was instantly hooked!
