WL (and Cubase) makes MBP Retina run on discrete GPU - why??

Well - short and simple - why does Wavelab (8.5 in my case) and Cubase for that matter make my Macbook Pro Retina run on the discrete GPU - using more power and creating way more heat than necessary?

Pro Tools runs just fine (better) on the integrated GPU. Way less fan noise - less power spent - more battery life.

Is it because WL and Cubase runs on Open GL?

I’m seriously considering migrating to pro Tools because it runs better and quieter on laptop. For stationary PC’s it probably doesn’t matter.

Still…lots of MacBooks and other laptops out there in the hands of producers.

indeed.

They STILL don’t care.

I think its about java, i don’t know.
