WaveLab 8.5 x64 weird crashing

I am having problems with Windows 7 updates. it is resetting my preferences. I have my computer setup to open .WAV files with WL. After the last two updates to Windows 7 the preference has been reset to “media player”. It is like Windows wants the machine back the way it was when I first installed Windows 7. I don’t know what other changes it is making or resetting. Not good…

Not seeing anything like that here Tom.

To combat this permanently - you should consider removing all “built in” Media components from your Windows 7 build if this is your DAW machine.

You can do this under Control Panel->Programs->Turn Windows Features On or Off. Once there - clear everything under Media Features and let Windows do it’s thing. Check and reckeck your default associations after the removal.

This is one of the first thing I do on every new build. There is nothing more annoying that having any of the built in Microsoft crap assume that it will get any usage from me.
