using Plug Ins in the sample editor

Using Cubase 6 ai and a trial of CUbase 6 Elements. Is it possible to use Plug Ins in the sample editor or do I need to upgrade to Artist or the full version for this option? I've used Cubase 5 and older versions of Nuendo and was accustomed to using plug ins directly on the wave file.

Full offline processing is a full version only feature.
