Unregister cubase 4 problem

Unregister cubase 4 problem

Postby gspot247 » Sat Jan 05, 2013 6:39 pm

I have purchased a copy of cubase 4 but it is still registered in the sellers name as she did not realise she had to unregister !
I got the link from you guys in this forum on where she should unregister.

But when she had loged into her mysteinberg account and clicked on the show registered products tab to show her previously registered copy of cubase 4 there was no usb elicence registration shown in the list !

Any ideara folks....? im just trying to find out some info as need to get this elicence registered in my name asap so i can upgrade to c7

big thank u G

Is it possible the previous owner never registered the USB-eLicenser?

Have you tried to register the USB-eLicenser in your name just to see what happens?

Yes I have tried to reregister it and it says that it is already registered by some one else.??
So I'm not sure how to sort this out apart from get a refund fr the seller and buy cubase 7 full version !

The seller reckons she did register it in 2007

Do u reckon steinberg will be able to sort this out ??

Thanks graham

It sounds like you (and the original owner?) might need to send a support request to figure this one out.

Maybe the original owner had two MySteinberg accounts? I don't know. One way or another, I don't think you'll be able to solve it through the forum unless you get lucky.

Regarding installing Cubase 4 first, that shouldn't be necessary. If the license is on the USB, that is what is looked at by the eLCC to determine if you qualify for the upgrade to 7.

I believe, in theory, you should be able to upgrade the license from 4 -> 7 even if the USB-eLicenser isn't registered in your account. However, it would be nice to have it in your name for support reasons.

I think you'll have to submit a support request ticket and see what Steinberg has to say. Unfortunately, you most likely won't receive a reply until at least Monday.

I'm not sure what else to suggest.

Thanks soo much for all ur help !! every body !!

Theres no question i want this elicence dongle in my name, so if this cant be done the seller will have to give me a full refund and i will go and buy cubase 7 straight out....doing it via a second hand copy of cubase 4 was suppose to save me a bit of cash....but we will see ey.

ok im going to suggest to the seller that we do this joint contact thing through steinberg and see what happenns !

just 1 more question

when i enter the activation number that came with my second hand copy of cubase 4...into elicence control center.....it does actually come up saying cubase 4 ! but then u press continue and a error message comes u saying something about the elicence needs to be copied back to the usb dobgle as it resides on another pc...i can upload a pic if needed ! but the elicence does also show up for cubase 4 when pluged into my pc....it says i have the full licence for cubase 4, halion, groove agent.....so the licences are on the usb key provided !!.

hope all this makes sense to somebody.......as i cant seem to think of anything else at the moment :?

thanks graham
